New Trades Out 08/10/2014

Another great week for fans of trades and comic shop owners families. I've still got Nailbiter to read from last week. Without a doubt my favourite book from last wednesday was Southern Bastards volume 1. Happily filling the Scalped shape hole in my life. It is time to bid a very sad farewell to what has been, in my opinion, the greatest horror comic of the last decade. I can't wait to get my hands on this as the tension has been ramped up to almost unbareable levels in the first 5 volumes. It is also one of the only places to see the absolutely breathtaking art of Gabriel Rodriguez, a name I hope to see more often on other books now that Locke & Key is wrapped up. If you haven't read any of the series there's a lovely slipcase complete collection due in November which I will cover closer to the time.

East of West volume 3 will be the book I'm waiting outside my local comic shop for this morning. Collecting #11-#15 of Hickman and Dragotta's race towards the apocolypse in a future American mash up of science fiction and western, it's been done before but never like this! Witness the latest Walking Dead omnibus through the eyes of Charlie Adlard in the latest Artists Proof Edition Hardcover. Collecting just the raw pencils of the entire All Out War story arc #115-125. It really has to be seen to be appreciated and thankfully @alphacomics of, Alpha Comics very kindly let me steal this awesome pic.

Volume 3 of Hawkguy out this week. Already confirmed as finished, this would be a great title to pick up if you're looking for something that's not going to go on and span 15 volumes and 2 tie ins. This collects #14,16, 18-19, 21 & annual. I'm behind on Hawkeye so I can't tell you  why that is. I'm looking forward to checking out Kelly Sue Deconnick's Captain Marvel as well, heard nothing but great things. Oh and it features The GoTG, because... Hollywood! Collects #1-6 of Captain (Ms) Marvel's latest ongoing with art from David Lopez.

So for the price of Marvel's latest Iron Man HC (and change for two singles) you could pick up the latest Image first volumes from the guys that brought you books like Ghosted and Scalped. The blurb for Nailbiter reads "like a mix between Twin Peaks and Se7en." *throws moneys* I've also really high hopes for Southern Bastards from Jason Aaron. If you have neglected to check out Jonathan Hickman and Nick Pitarra's mind blowing Manhattan Projects you can pick the first two volumes #1-10 in deluxe hardcover format (you really should!)

Bendis' brilliant All New X-Men gets the oversized HC treatment with a chance to collect #1-10 but be warned, Marvel are great at starting in this format and stopping two volumes in. There's a collection of all of Deathlok and Moon Knights early appearances as well. Please don't make me list them all, nobody else cares. I hear good things about the latest Moon Knight run which also gets its first release today. V.1's for Ghost Rider and Magneto round off a good week for Marvel and a great week for new trades over all. Rejoice!

New Trades 03/09/2014

This is my first round up of new trades out since last November so I really appreciate it if anyone bothered coming over to check it out. I promise to be more reliable from now on.

Up first is the great big God Is Dead Book Of Acts Deluxe Collector Box Set from Avatar which will retail at $100 but I am assured contains content far exceeding the value. There's at least half a cow in leather alone! I've not read the title since Hickman left but it's fucking insane and theyve got Alan Moore & Si Spurrier writing it *Take My Money* Oh yeah, they are limited to only 500 releases but when have you not known a Moore comic to be reprinted/packaged/branded annually, so don't go stabbing anyone over one. Included in the collection:

Not much on offer from DC this week, nothing I've read to be honest. Forever Evil hardcover collects issues 1-7. It's by Geoff John's, yes, honestly! I also would have never guessed. NEWSARAMA calls it "cinematic." I would advise you to spend your money on something else.

I was pretty severe on DC's big event collection so it's only fair I mention that picking up this complete $50 Infinity collection is probably the only way to make sense of the fucking thing. If you're in the UK you could save a fortune and pick up the two Panini reprints instead. If you bought the Avengers tie ins separately I feel bad for you son. There's some breathtaking art, in fact this book is almost a showcase of Marvel's finest talent. The 592 pages collect:

Todays New Trades 06/11/13

 

Tarintino fans can get their hands on the 7 issues Hardcover, Django Unchained adaptation which has some pretty spectacular Jim Lee artwork in it. Also don't miss your 1500th chance to get your hands on a Sandman reprinting.

Dynamite have the first collection of Mark Waid's run on Green Hornet which I have been dying to check out. IDW have yet another gorgeous Artist's Edition out, this time for Jee Smith's "Bone."

 

Anyone insane enough not to check out Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye before now gets their best chance yet as the Oversized hardcover is out today. Collecting #1-11 and Young Avengers Presents #6. The premier HC for volume 2 of Uncanny X-Men has been renamed "broken" from "Lost in Limbo." If you buy the Agents of Shield tie in TPB then let me give you my heart felt commiserations now.

 

 

All of the above is irrelevant as far as my wallet is concerned as Image comics release the third volume of Hickman and Pittara's Manhattan Projects. Easily the best comic of 2013 and one that makes me constantly wrestle over my decision to wait for trades. Roll on pay day!
